Forestry Mulching
Forestry mulching is an excellent property improvement option if you want to reduce the impact on the landscape. The final mulching product from these machines mitigates soil erosion and also acts as a fire buffer. Mulching also aids with pasture restoration, raises PH levels and lowers soil acidity, making it a benefit to the soil in addition to creating a more desirable landscape. It is much faster than clearing, permitting and burning are often not required, burning isn't required. By mowing and grinding all vegetation where it stands, the process eliminates many steps that are usually involved in land clearing which reduces the time span of the project.
We specialize in a multiple mulching applications.

Whether you're a utility company, land developer, or a property owner, managing right of ways is an important task for everyone. Our team at JM Land Services can work with you to ensure safe and sustainable clearing for these important strips of land, however big or small they may be.
Land Clearing
Land clearing also known as “grubbing” is the process of removing all trees, stumps, roots, weeds, and vegetation from an area for site preparation. This is an important process for any sort of land development. There are various reasons why land clearing occurs and here are just a few:
-
agriculture
-
land improvement
-
residential development
-
new construction
A land clearing process can vary depending on the land and the reasonings for clearing it. One method is to remove all the vegetation, stumps and root mass called clearing and grubbing. This vegetation is then either burned, hauled or chipped. Another process would be to mow everything flat with what’s called a forestry mulcher, with this method all vegetation is ground up and left evenly spread along the surface. This method does not disturb the vegetation below grade.
The main steps in any “clearing and grubbing” process are:
-
Clear trees and stumps
-
Grubb root mat
-
Backfill cleared area leaving it smooth
If you plan on building on the land once the land is cleared then it’s important to use a grader to grade the land afterwards. This will smooth everything out.
If you plan on using the land for farming then it’s important to then plow the land.
